Peak Day Pricing: Utility Rate Analysis

Business owners using PG&E will likely received a letter asking you to make a choice to opt-out of the new PG&E Peak Day Pricing rate by the end of May 2010, or be automatically enrolled in this new rate. Many of our customers have questions about this process and are turning to APT for help.
In general the Peak Day Pricing tariff is going to decrease your monthly electric bill immediately. If you can shift load or decrease energy use between 2PM and 6PM on peak days your monthly bill will go down with PDP. If you do nothing on the PDP peak days, your monthly bill will go up.
For a more qualitative analysis, APT can perform a detailed report of the actual impact for your business based on your historical energy consumption. This will give you a clear picture of the Peak Day Pricing impact to your energy costs so you can make a data based decision to opt out or accept.
APT’s power monitoring maintenance service customers enjoy our support for utility rates changes as part of the monthly service, but a change to a new utility tariff by the customer is not covered. Customers who choose to enroll in the new PDP tariff will need to engage with APT to update their energy and demand reports accordingly.

Arc Flash Hazard Study

Review existing short circuit and coordination study reports, or develop these reports as part of arc flash study. Determine available arc flash energy and define approach boundaries. APT can create Arc Flash warning labels
for equipment and prioritize recommendations to minimize shutdown impacts.

Short Circuit and Protective Device Coordination Study

APT calculates new settings to provide selective clearing and fault isolation. As-Built existing settings for protective devices (circuit breakers, relays, fuses). APT prioritizes recommendations in order to minimize shutdown impacts.
Our experienced engineers review existing equipment for as-built ratings, underrated devices. We provide calculation of fault currents for grounded, line to ground, and three phase faults. Request our detailed comparison of fault current versus equipment rating.

Energy Rebate Benchmarking

Rebates offer great advantages but can be difficult to maneuver. APT has over 15 years experience working with Utility and government based incentive programs.
Subsidize the purchase of monitoring systems as well as reduce your carbon footprint.
Demand Response programs can keep paying even after the system is installed.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 extended many EPACT programs for energy efficiency.
You cannot manage what you cannot measure. Without monitoring systems to benchmark where you are, you cannot know if you are getting where you want to go. Decide what you need to measure and make that your benchmark value. APT provides the ability to meet your Best Practice goals and achieve savings of both usage and cost. APT can help you collect and display the energy footprint data you need to help achieve reduction goals with:
Audits
Benchmarking
Integration
W.A.G.E.S. Analysis
Benchmarking allows you to:
Find baseline and track performance
Prove if the designed system works
Create goals and internal standards
Find areas to save energy and money
Set priorities for maintenance and audits
Educate and influence building occupants

Rebate Verification & Validation

LEED programs state that the key to managing costs and usage is to monitor them. Energy M&V credit can be obtained using APT’s technology and expertise. Verify that your facility is operating as efficiently as possible. Track your usage and prove your investment in energy efficiency.
