Richard Celio, P.E. – CTO/Founder

  Mr. Celio is a registered professional electrical engineer in the State of California. He is a member of IEEE, AFE and AEE and is the Vice Chairman of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the IEEE Power Engineering Society. He has over 25 years experience in helping industrial/commercial customers solve difficult electrical systems problems. He graduated from San Jose State University with a BSME. He performed graduate work and taught as lecturer at SJSU.

With Pacific Gas & Electric he worked with large industrial and commercial customer electrical systems, evaluating control strategies and design changes to optimize efficiency including implementing advanced metering and monitoring for load studies and demand sided management.

In 1986 Mr. Celio was instrumental in developing PG&E's Power Quality Enhancement Service. During September 1988 Mr. Celio became Basic Measuring Instrument's Education Manager responsible for program development and training in power quality. In February 1992 he joined CRS Sirrine Engineers (now Jacobs Engineering), and as manager of the San Jose Office for Energy Systems Planning and Analysis, he was responsible for engineering studies, research projects, consulting work and instruction. In 1994, Mr. Celio started Applied Power Technologies to help utilities and industries reduce electrically related losses primarily through the application of state of the art metering, monitoring and SCADA hardware and software. He has been the principal engineer involved with integration of large scale power management systems at numerous locations including Stanford University, Sun Microsystems, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, State of California, County of Santa Clara.

Mr. Celio is on staff at De Anza College teaching electrical power systems courses for the Energy Management Technology Program within the Environmental Studies Department.

Andrew Taylor, P.E. – CEO

 

Andy Taylor, Partner at APT, is a registered professional electrical engineer in the State of California. He is a member of IFMA Silicon Valley, past president of the AFE Silicon Valley, and president of the Northern California Plant Engineers (NCPE).

Mr. Taylor has over 25 years of experience in facilities, manufacturing, and utility engineering. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho, and a master’s degree in manufacturing systems engineering from Stanford University.

Mr. Taylor has been a registered professional electrical engineer since 1994. Mr. Taylor’s professional background includes nearly a decade at Intel Corporation in various positions in facilities and manufacturing. He chaired Intel’s virtual factory electrical joint engineering team (JET), and was the strategic planning manager for Intel Mask Operations.

Prior to Intel, Mr. Taylor was a consulting electrical engineer for Quasar Engineering in Emeryville, CA and for ABB Impell in San Ramon, CA. Back in Boise, Idaho Mr. Taylor worked for the electric utility Idaho Power Company.

Mr. Taylor is a seasoned professional skilled in both facilities management and manufacturing systems improvement. His flexibility and creative approach to problem solving have been formally recognized and awarded by clients and employers alike.
